According to Fiorelli –
“Next to the stairs was a shop which was linked to the stairs (at VIII.3.10).
The shop was part of the house found at its rear (VIII.3.12), whose entrance doorway was on the eastern roadway.
In the shop was a storeroom and a cubiculum under the above-mentioned stairs, with the remains of various figures of Muses decorating the walls.”
